Rio Hondo Prep Dress Code

All students wear uniforms selected from the list below. Both middle school and high school are required to have Kare Dress for field trips and special activities. Kare Dress is as follows:

  • Middle School - uniform khaki long pants or skorts and red polo shirt.
  • High School - uniform black long pants or skorts, white oxfords, black V-neck Sweater with red tie (for boys)

MIDDLE SCHOOL

  • Tennis shoes, dress shoes or Uniform Van's shoes.
  • Uniform pants/shorts/skirts/skorts with the Uniform belt.
  • Uniform polo shirt, turtleneck, or long-sleeved shirt.
  • Uniform V-neck sweater, sweatshirts or jackets.
  • Red, black or white crew socks.
  • Kare-Wear (available from Sportline only- includes shirts, jackets, sweatshirts).

HIGH SCHOOL

  • Dress shoes or Uniform Van's shoes
  • Uniform pants/shorts/skirts/skorts with the Uniform belt.
  • Uniform polo shirt, turtleneck, shells or long-sleeved shirt.
  • Uniform V-neck sweater, sweatshirts or jackets.
  • Red, black or white crew socks.
  • Kare-Wear (available from Sportline only- includes shirts, jackets, sweatshirts).
  • Uniform Hat - optional

ALL STUDENTS

  • Clothing is to be neat, clean in appearance and in the appropriate size.
  • Excessively trendy hairstyles, color or cut is inappropriate. (Check with your leader beforehand if there is a question about what is acceptable.)
  • Sunglasses or bandannas are not to be worn or carried during school hours.
  • No hats or caps except the Uniform hat which cannot be worn during classes.
  • Shirts/blouses are to be buttoned and tucked in at all times.
  • Uniform belts are to be worn in pants having belt loops.
  • Clothes worn under jackets and sweatshirts must follow the dress code.

All students are required to be responsible in their dress and grooming by avoiding extremes and manifesting self-discipline with regard to regulations. Dress should never distract from or interfere with the learning environment of the school. The following are not acceptable: beach walkers, shoes without backs, thong sandals, baggy pants, jewelry for boys, facial hair, sideburns. Cooperation of parents is essential. The school administration is the final interpreter of the dress code.
