Rio Hondo Prep International Students There are a few things you should know before you consider applying to Rio Hondo Preparatory School as an International Student.
If you would like to apply to Rio Hondo Preparatory School you may call the school office between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at 626-444-9531 ext 113 and schedule an appointment. If you call when the office is closed you may leave a message. Please state that you are inquiring about an international application and have read the information on the web site. Leave your name, phone number and times you may be reached. Location of SchoolRio Hondo Prep is located on five acres in an urban setting 15 miles outside of Los Angeles California. The address is 5150 Farna Ave. P.O. Box 662080, Arcadia CA 91006-2080 GradesMiddle School: 6th through 8th Class Size15 to 25 students per class. The faculty/student ratio is 1:15 AccreditationFully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges AcademicsA college preparatory school that prepares all of its graduates to meet most college admission requirements including the University of California system. Many students take Advanced Placement Examinations and on-line courses are offered for college credit. EnglishInternational students are placed in regular classrooms with other college prep students as soon as possible. ESL (English as a second language) classes are offered as needed but students who are weak in English will need to sign up for an English tutorial program in order to pass their courses and graduate in four years. International students will need to meet the same graduation requirements as other students. College PlacementSpecial counseling is offered to international students to help them meet the entrance requirements for the college of their choice and to assist them through the application process. Graduation RequirementsEnglish - 4 years History - 3 years and one summer tour Science - 3 years with labs Math 2-3 years including Advanced Algebra and Geometry Foreign Language - 2 years (native language may count). AthleticsInterscholastic football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball and track. All students are expected to participate in the sports program. HousingStudents who do not have a relative to live with are housed in American homes where they can truly interact with other students and gain from cultural experiences. Communication skills in the English language are gained more quickly in this environment as well. Tuition And BoardingTuition and Boarding prices will be faxed, mailed or e-mailed upon request. Summer ToursEight week tours of the United States or Europe are offered during the summer and participation on one trip is required for graduation. I-20'sI-20's are issued after a student has been accepted into Rio Hondo Prep. |
